This trace approach fixes a problem that appears in Live Trace when rounded edges touch the edge of the artwork. The rounded edges sometimes become flattened. This is done by increasing the canvas size in Photoshop prior to trace.
Also, the trace is improved simply by increasing the size of the raster by at least 3x prior to trace.
